Escrima, which gets its name from the Spanish word for fencing, is together with Kali and Arnis, synonymous with Filipino martial arts. It´s best known for its weapons, usually a pair of sticks. Focus is put on giving the students a fighting chance against an armed attacker, regardless if the student is armed or not. The system is “weapons neutral”, which means that a practioner should be able to use an almost unlimited variety of weapons.
We train Escrima within the Weapons Combat Systems, which was developed by Grandmaster Lars Lind, who after 30 years experience of Latosa Escrima, chose to create his own system. He developed it after his personal skills and vast knowledge of Wing Tsun and the European weapons tradition.
The system consists of three branches: Weapons Combat Escrima, Historical Weapons Combat, and Wing Tsun Weapons Combat. The last one is of course extra exciting for practitioners of Wing Tsun, since they are taught how to use the system´s traditional weapons and also how to use their Wing Tsun against armed attacks. Historical Weapons Combat focuses on the weapons use from a historical perspective, especially the European traditions.
